This perspective is like a pair of x-ray vision glasses! It lets us see right through what is going on around us to understand the hidden reasons buried beneath the action. This "behind the curtain" information is tremendously useful in interacting with others, and in understanding our relationships with our jobs.
To say the least, the perspective of Motivation can help us to like our work.
Our motivational makeup is central to who we are. It dictates what drives us to act or refrain from actions, and what sort of activities will resonate with us as being "valuable." If we lack an understanding of this in ourselves or in others, it becomes extremely difficult to make sense of the world around us at work.
To build your own perspective of Motivation, read Chapters 4 and 5 of Four Secrets to Liking Your Work.
